• The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Hurst

• Tress of the Emerald Sea by Brandon Sanderson (standalone within the Cosmere universe)

• A Wizard’s Guide to Defensive Baking by T Kingfisher (and several others by the same author)

Cosy fantasy/Magical realism

Set in an everyday world with a touch of magic. Some are still on my TBR pile (italics). Note that my emphasis is on cosy. There are other magical realism books which are wonderful, but not cosy. Cosy is also a difficult thing to define, as people have different definitions of what low stake and clean reads may or may not include. • The Emily Wilde series is set in a historic real world as a start but then moves onto a fantasy world within our world.

• The Book Charmer by Karen Hawkins (Dove Pond Series of 4) There are a lot of these almost hallmark-like romances with a touch of magic.
